My role on a day to day basis consists of cleaning a vacated room thoroughly to get prepared for incoming guests. Also check over for any maintenance repairs if required and report to my line manger. Report if low on any stock or if anything else required. Stock my cleaning trolley and then fully empty at the end of my shift.
Since starting work at whitbread premier inn I have expanded my knowledge into housekeeping with ongoing training. I have covered many things from diversity to linen management. I was offered the opportunity to complete an apprenticeship which I was glad to undertake as I do want to expand further and do what I can.
I find it interesting very informative, and it helps that I have a very good assessor in Ian.
The programme is very well organised my meetings are scheduled well in advance and to work around me and my lifestyle. My assessor contacts me day before scheduled meeting to make sure all ok or if need to rearrange. Overall excellent service throughout.
My employer is very supportive in helping me to achieve completion in my apprenticeship. I’m an offered help and advice on anything I’m unsure of or on anything that I haven’t yet been trained in. My working rota can be altered to work around my meetings with my assessor if required.
There’s always someone on the end of phone or message if I require any assistance or clarification on anything. Excellent service.
It helps me to do better in my role because what I’m learning through my apprenticeship I put into practice when at work, it makes me feel better knowing that I’m improving in my role.
Not at present due to obvious COVID restrictions.
