  • Manning the reception desk, checking in guests and helping in any way possible. Banking money taken during the day and submitting end of day finances. General cleaning and housekeeping jobs, as well as hourly checks to ensure the silent night guarantee is upheld.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Customer service has always been my field. But many skills have been honed or relearned, such as the banking, and the computer systems which we use.

  • I am finding the course extremely informative, and I am enjoying the experience.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The current climate is an extremely odd one, so face to face training is sadly out of the question. But I feel the telephone one to ones, are a very valid way of getting around the current issues.

  • Complete support.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • All of my needs have been met so far.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I believe they will do. And I am learning more of the behind the scenes with the course.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Not really. And with me working nights. This would limit my ability to participate sadly. But especially with the current pandemic. Such activities would be negligent in the extreme

  • 9a. Would you recommend Whitbread to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Whitbread appear to be a company that actually cares for its employees. Something that is sadly all too rare.


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Whitbread?
  • Be yourself. Be honest. If you have health or mental issues, be open about them. Honesty is always the best policy.
