Providing engineering designs and solutions for the temporary works industry, this ranges from 3D models with accompanying demolition sequencing to the justification of working platforms for various plant operations. My job requires CAD, structural calculations, health and safety (mitigating risk) and producing design risk assessments to produce compiled engineering packages for clients.
Everything I do in my job is new skills, I had very little experience with CAD and now I’m able to produce accurate 3D models as part of my work. I am more proficient in structural calculations to design standards which I did not know about prior to my job.
I love the work that I do because I have the ability to be a part of such large scale projects in the construction industry and can see how my work has been carried out due to having clients that carry out the work on my LinkedIn, furthermore I am part of an amazing team of talented individuals.
I find that my work give me opportunities to develop my skills in the widest range of areas possible, it is structured to allow me to gain vast knowledge which improves my confidence. The company is very efficient and organisation is fundamental in my line of work and the programme reflects this.
The support is unmatched, I have access to all the information I could ever need because of our online archives, the webinars that my company produces, I am on an ICE training course so I have access to their information and courses plus I am a recipient of the company healthcare so I receive support both in and out of work.
Support is there if required, I work with people with extremely vast and detailed knowledge so any questions can be addressed plus I find working towards my qualifications a lot easier due to the work that I do day in and day out. There is also a financial incentive scheme for completing qualification
I don’t think it does at all, I have been working in the industry for 2 years prior to my qualification so I know the necessary information to produce my work however it does give me more insight as to why I produce work in a particular fashion which is good I guess.
We have a team building once a year which is great but as we are a small business with 4 people in my office there isn’t much place or money for extra curricular activities however there are a few of us that all go rock climbing so it’s not company activities but we do them as a team
Yes
It’s a great company to work for I hold my colleagues in such high esteem and I am really proud to work for them not just because of what they do for me in and outside work but because of the opportunities that it gives me, I’m 19 working on some of the biggest projects in the country and I could’ve never imagined that before I started working here.
Do you research because the work that we do is demanding and it requires you to understand design to design standards but as long as you’re open minded and hard working you will be respected and given the right help also friendliness plays a big part as we have about 20 employees at a family run business
