My role is working within the commercial and finance departments to maximise the value of the companies expenditure. I work on tendering for all of our projects ranging from commercial fit outs to residential conversions to office fitouts. Normal activities are dealing with suppliers and negotiating the best possible deals.
I have learnt plenty of new skills such as my negotiating skills have gone from strength to strength to where I now deal with contractors on my own. My general knowledge of construction has grown a lot being involved with professionals from all backgrounds of the industry which is a brilliant opportunity.
Massively, I love working for the employer that I do and really appreciate the amount of support and trust they put in to me to excel and grow in the role that I have but also looking forward to move up within the company and climb the career ladder going foward.
In the current circumstances it's as organised as it could be with not being taught on campus all year and everything at uni being done over Teams instead. The lectures are generally well structured but it does seem harsh we are marked the same as previous years with class based learning.
My employer provides as much support as I request is is quite happy to grant off extra time or pay for any additional training that I may need or want to do. My employer is a very strong believer in training staff and upskilling the current workforce that we have.
Currently I'm on year 1 of my 5 year course and we don't start the the RICS qualification part of it until year 3 but NTU have already given us insights in what do to. NTU are generally supportive with the degree and help is provided quickly when requested.
Massively. I think the best form is education is mixing class based lectures with real life experience on site in construction so with this mix in the last 6 months my knowledge has rapidly grown and helped me excel in my role. The knowledge learnt from the course is already saving the company money!!
Obviously a lot of extra activates are cancelled due to covid restrictions and with us not even going to campus all year. To be fair to NTU they have tried to arrange a lot of extra info events and social events over Teams to make up for the lack of person to person contact.
Yes
Brilliant support and a lot of opportunities for careers changes and career movement across the whole group. Since I joined they have given me a lot of support and constantly tried to help me grow and excel in my career. Also a great employer for perks and work benefits which is brilliant.
While we are a small company currently with only 6 employees within the Bildurn team of the overall company we'll be growing a lot in the future and I look forward to having new apprentices and working with them to help them grow. Bildurn is a brilliant team from all perspectives to join and has an excellent culture.
