On a day to day basis my role involves auditing the financial statements of national companies. I perform several procedures in order to gain support over the balance sheet and profit and loss statements for various companies, and gain reasonable assurance for all stakeholders of a business, including employees and shareholders.
I have learnt various new skills after commencing my period at EY. I have highly developed my communication skills after talking with various different clients on a weekly basis and also by working with teams of different people on every different engagement. I have also developed my skills of using Microsoft Excel for which I previously had very little experience.
The programme is exciting and is constantly changing. There are various training courses and extra-curricular activities held on a regular basis which allows for an excellent experience. Constant changes allow for one to keep refreshed and also to constantly experience new things. The tasks we complete on a regular basis are no different to those completed by most other employees.
In y opinion the program is structure fairly well. There is a mix of on the job experience and training along with college time allowing us to study for our exams. The structure of the program is constantly changing as EY takes on board feedback and tries to address those areas which are flagged by most people.
We receive high levels of support from our employees. There is constant on the job and off the job training which allows for constant development. There is regular coaching by senior members of staff who coach juniors on procedures to be followed to complete our work to the highest quality.
When working towards our collection we receive lots of off the job training and support. We attend college either physically or virtually where there is a tutor who is usually only teaching students from EY in the class. We also have self study for some exams where we use the materials provided to us to independently work towards our exams.
I believe that my qualification helps me to perform better to a very high level. In the process of completing my role I can see strong links and references to our studies. By having completed some exams we are able to complete our work to a much greater standard and higher quality.
At EY there are numerous extra curricular activities to get involved with. We have football every Wednesday on a regular basis where all employees at EY are able to participate in. There are also usually social activities after some large client engagements where the whole team is able to get together in a relaxed environment.
Yes
The experience I have had at EY has been excellent so far. There is a comfortable relaxed environment in the office and all peers are very nice and welcoming. Since i have joined EY I have had a great experience and have mostly enjoyed my journey throughout the program thus far.
For those people who are applying to EY, I would advise them to strongly try their best to obtain an offer. Joining the firm with an open mind and being keen to learn would be an excellent way to start. Assessment days are a great way to express yourself and try and stand out from the crowd so ensure to sufficiently prepare.
