I work as an operations lead across our UKI and EMEIA Tech teams. I work closely with the project managers to understand their projects and support with the development of business cases and approvals. I also manage our performance dashboards and work on supporting the business in the adoption of new tools such as Power Automate.
I have learnt soft skills such as presenting to leadership teams and running virtual training sessions. On top of this, I have developed skills in low code tools such as Alteryx and PowerBI that I use to design and develop innovative solutions that I can implement in my team and the business. I have also been trained on methodologies such as Agile and Design Thinking.
Highly - I enjoy the responsibility of the work I do. I get to work across a range of teams and different personalities and I have been given lots of opportunities to try new things. Whilst the repetitive tasks can get tiresome, the team culture and moral makes it a lot easier and I can't wait for the next challenge.
The programme is very well structured. In the office, we are put into different areas of the business on six month rotations where we are put on structured training programmes and given the opportunity to expand our knowledge in specialist areas. We are provided 20% off the job to work on our university course which is provided by a third party. We are provided with a 'buddy' and a work counsellor who help us progress our career.
When joining, we receive a buddy who is there to support and help transition into the workplace. At EY, we are also supported with a work counsellor. We have monthly meetings where we discuss our roles and any issues we have, as well as career progression and LEAD feedback. Everyone is always happy to help.
During each module, we receive weekly content and weekly drop-in sessions with the tutor. This learning is also facilitated by two workshops per term, where we spend time going through the content in detail with the tutor. This is the space where we can ask questions and get support on our assignments. We are also supported by a skills coach who we have regular catch-ups with.
My skills in writing and presenting have increased through my work with QA and I feel more confident in my ability to present to large groups about my work. My knowledge of specific areas has increased, such as Agile Performance Testing and Big Data, which has helped me in my ability to research topics.
Yes! Within my first week, I joined the EY netball team. We train regularly and have weekly matches where we play as a team in a local league. This has been a great way to expand my network outside of the office walls, as well as keep fit. I am also a part of various networks such as the EY's Women's Network, as well as yammer groups.
Yes
EY has been an amazing start to my career. I have had so many opportunities to expand my network, skills and knowledge of technology and the way the business world works. Everyone has been so welcoming and helpful, and I know I am in a place that will support me and help me grow into the professional I want to be.
Make sure to research and understand recent trends. Technology is changing everyday and it shows great initiative to start trying to understand the impact this will have on businesses and EY. Be confident and truthful in your approach to applying - EY look at you as an individual who they can support and develop, it's up to you how far you want to take it.
