As a sales associate, I have been given a great amount of exposure to all areas of the business and given the opportunity to really understand how the business works. On a day-to-day basis I have rotation calls but am also able to shadow the work of my coach/mentor.
I have learnt the essential skills needed in sales and also the skills necessary to be successful at Computacenter. Some of these skills include; business knowledge, industry knowledge, networking, collaboration and communication. During the training with firebrand, we were given an insight into the fundamental skills for a salesperson and learnt about; questioning techniques, communication and the main attributes needed to be a successful salesperson.
I have really enjoyed the AP21 programme so far. It has been very informative and helped me understand both the business and the industry in depth. Having exposure to various teams through calls and induction has been very beneficial. I am enjoying getting more involved in projects with my coach and mentor and solidifying the knowledge I have learnt and putting it into practice.
The programme is very well organised. From the beginning, we have been made aware of the rotation schedule so we had enough time to prepare. We now have an overview of what the rest of the programme looks like which helps when reaching out to people and planning ahead of time. The programme lead is always available to answer any queries and help out.
I have received a lot of support from all the senior individuals I have been involved with so far. I think the best part of the support comes from having a buddy, coach and a mentor as they are all able to help out with different queries or projects I have.
Our training with Firebrand has been very useful. We have been given a lot of guidance from the outset and have a specific mentor aligned from Firebrand to help with our project and any queries we may have. The accessibility of support is very easy and I always feel my questions are answered quickly and effectively.
From the apprenticeship training we have had so far, I have found it very useful. As I have previous sales experience, the training has given me an in-depth understanding of what is required to succeed in my role. Although I haven't put this into practice yet, it has helped me know more about the role and what is needed to perform to the best of my ability.
Computacenter arranged for virtual social events at the beginning of the programme, which helped get to know the associates and our buddy's a lot better. There has also been other virtual events including; a pizza making zoom and a cocktail making class. I am aware that there are opportunities to get involved in local community initiatives and am looking forward to volunteer for these.
Yes
I have found the programme well organised and a very good introduction into the company. It was made clear from the beginning that Computacenter care about employees and that has shown throughout. It is also a highly reputable company to work for within this industry and there is a lot of opportunity for growth and improvement after this programme.
I would advise to research the industry trends etc. and not just the company as I was asked about this during the interview process. Also to take any opportunity that is presented to get involved in different projects and meet people as networking is very important and ask lots of questions!
