  • I will spend half of my time in the audit department, where i work on a team, obtaining evidence from clients and performing specific tests woth this evidence to make sure that there is no fraud going on in the company and to ensure that the companies financial statements will be free from material misstatement. I will spend the other half of my time in data analytics, loading data into online tools.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Being virtual I feel I haven't been able to experience the program to the fullest, however i am enjoying meeting new people everyday and learning how to perform different procedures on pieces of work. I enjoy learning about why we perform those tests and specific things to look out for that could be potential red flags.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The digital apprenticeship has only been running for three years, so therefore is still having a few changes made. EY are very understanding around study leave and ensure that you get your full 20% off the job time. The apprenticeship ensures that you get to spend your time across various departments within the company.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • There is a lot of support at EY. We are assigned a counsellor, a buddy and there is also a range of trained mental health people you can speak to. You are often invited to meetings with people in your exact position just a head ahead and this is helpful as you can ask them any questions and it is likely that they have the answer.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • We are assigned a skills coach from the training provider who will reach out every 8 weeks for a 1-1 session. in this session they discuss your work, your classes and ask if you have any questions. However they can sometimes give mixed messages and be very vague when answering your questions.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • So far, i haven't really used my qualification in my role at EY.However i have only studied for one term. When i move into data analytics department i think i will use my new digital skills in my job role.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are different networks at EY. I am involved in the women's network, where they regularly invite different people in to talk about issues. The sessions can be interactive as you can ask questions. But i would like to see smaller groups (office based) where you can play sports etc and get involved with people that you work with everyday.

  • 9a. Would you recommend EY to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • EY is a great place to start your career. The firm is so big that you can end up going into any department that you like. They are really good at tackling diversity and environmental issues and they have great support for all colleagues, no matter what level you are.

  • Do your research, when preparing for an interview.
