Working on shift with the qualified engineers has always been the highlight of the job, gaining experience from them is invaluable. However the management of our apprenticeship has been poor, there has never been a set plan for us from the start. We have always been treated as an after thought and the last year has made this abundantly clear. We were denied being put on a break of learning during furlough eneven though they ran out of work for us to do. And now after being put back into the work place with a few months left on our apprenticeship we have been struggling to finish due to the lessened workload throughout the company.
Due to the nature of my placements throughout my time at BA I have mostly been on the line, so I have developed a lot of experience with line work however throughout my whole apprenticeship I have also been asking to be placed in the hangars where I can get the most relevant experience in terms of furthering my apprenticeship.
There has been no plan for us from the start, as I have mentioned before everything has been thrown together for us last minute and to be honest it has not been up to scratch. Never having any answers for our questions has also been a reoccurring issue.
As I have mentioned numerous times, there has been no set plan or structure to our apprenticeship, we have only heard of things in rumour that eventually never come to fruition.
During furlough we had weekly teams calls to make sure that we would not have a break in learning. Usually if we need support from managers we can send an email and it will be answered fairly consistently.
Not much in the grand scheme of things, our assessors are quite good but aside from that there is not much in the way of support.
At the end of the day the qualification will become irrelevant compared to experience or licences.

Overall the management side of the company are very lacking in support for you. For gaining hands on experience it can be a fairly good place to learn the basics to build your career.
