Helping the management team with jobs and carrying out my own tasks i've been delegated such as keeping on top of statutory inspections, uploading reports and ensuring defects are closed out.
I have developed my confidence no end and have learnt lots about quarrying and readymix and different roles in the business. I have slightly developed my IT skills and organisational skills
I enjoy it very much, I get to travel around the west midlands catching up with the plant supervisors and trying to solve any issues they have while keeping up the companys quality policies and ensuring health and safety is met at every site
I think the structure has fell in to place nicely as I gained a good background of knowledge in my first year of quarrys and then this year I am learning about readymix and am specialising in more technical areas with the uni
I work very closely with the management team around me and they always allow my study day and if I needed any extra days to catch up on work, they would allow it. The supervisors around me also help me to understand the basics of readymix
The university lecturers seem very helpful, I have contacted two of them already this year and they came back with very useful replies and helped me to get a 95 & 98 on my most recent pieces of work
Unfortunately the Uni course is more focused on the technical aspect of the job which I have less to do with and more to do with the operational management, but it still helps me to understand the product and why some problems occur
There very well could be, I don't personally look out for them so I feel it would be unfair to comment negatively on this
Yes
They have been a very good employer to me and I think if you are hard working, they recognize that and you have the chance to go far
Do it! The assessment day I did was fine and wasn't bad once you'd settled in, there has been a lot of opportunities for me to grow as a person and as an employee with the company and I think they are a good company to work for
