Within my role at Tarmac, I am given lots of varied experiences in order to develop and integrate within the profession. Every day is different and managers at Tarmac are very invested in early careers and their development into their destination roles. Working from home whilst developing into the role has been tricky but Tarmac has adapted very well.
I have learnt a lot of new skills as well as developing existing ones. It is very useful to be able to contextualise my learnings from my course at college and use them at work to gain more understanding of them. Tarmac also provide a Development Programme for early careers which is great.
I really enjoy my programme as the links between my role and my course are great, meaning I can really understand the course further whilst I am on the job. The team that I work with are amazing and provide lots of opportunities that really help me grow within my role.
My programme is very well structured, within the workplace and my course. I am provided with great support from both Tarmac and my college. I am very clear with what my objectives are because of the support and training that I am provided with, which is followed through with the right guidance.
I receive great support from my team and my line manager. My team is great and we all help out with each others areas so we can be as efficient as possible. My line manager gives me amazing support and guides me through my journey of learning. Tarmac also provide mentors to the early career population which is massively useful.
I receive really good support from my tutor at college. We have regular tutorials to make sure that I am on track with the progress that I am making with various pieces of work. Support is highly accessible the other times that I may need support from college and my tutor.
My learnings from my course at college are very useful within the workplace and definitely help within my day to day role at work. The course I am undertaking is very relevant to my role and is very useful to apply the knowledge and skills that are gained into the workplace.
At the moment, this is quite a difficult one as we're not allowed! But there are lots of extra-curricular activities that everyone at Tarmac can get involved in. There is all sorts throughout the year that is happening, that people can attend. There are sports teams, gym equipment, seasonal parties.
Yes
It is a great place to work as everyone that you work with is very supportive and help with development within your role. There is a great culture throughout Tarmac and there are lots of opportunities to develop in different roles between the different business units and the opportunities are endless.
Tarmac are very invested in the early careers population and are keen on their development. Functional roles are great within this company and some people may oversee that because of the industry that Tarmac is in. Being invested in your own development within your apprenticeship is the best advice to give.
