I am currently working in the Global People Services as a HR and Operations Analyst. I analyze data and play a major role in the revamping of the HR portal which includes employee benefits, terminations and policies overall. I also learnt a great deal about auditing and run the weekly EMEA audits which involve checking documents and whether information s up-to-date.
I have learnt to communicate effectively ensuring eye to detail is given to ensure documents produced are of top quality. I have also learnt a great deal about the Bloomberg terminal and the functions. My role also required me to be organised and manage time efficiently and allocate time to certain tasks that require prioritization.
I really enjoy the programme because I am learning everyday and no day is the same. I am also continuously able to focus on my self development through Bloomberg University courses and LinkedIn Learning. Having the flexible approach also helps me professionally to learn as well as work alongside. I really enjoy working with the people on my team as they are very helpful and approachable.
I have been working on various projects since the beginning of the programme and have gained various skills and attributes by doing the same. I get exposure to team meetings and am up to date with projects I am working on as a result. My team leader also encourages me to learn and gain new skills on using certain software through LinkedIn Learning.
I receive a lot of support from my employer considering I am working from home. I also have the option to go into the office once a week and that is very helpful to get mind space and more resources to work with. I have also received a lot of support from my TL when I had to deal with personal circumstances and was able to take time off work.
I had a one month intense training through an external company called Jolt in December. These sessions were very helpful and prepared me to work in a corporate environment. I was able to get exposure on different topics that included artificial intelligence, business model canvases, marketing, sales, customer service as well a deep insight into career development and reflective writing.
I strongly believe that there is more understanding when theory is put into practice. I felt more ready and prepared after the training sessions to commence work. I was more confident after having gone through the training and still use some of the techniques I learnt in my personal as well as professional life.
I attended some Learning and Diversity sessions lately as everyone is currently a bit limited to events because of the pandemic. I was virtually able to meet some of the team that is based in APAC and America. It also gives me exposure and helps to be a part of different group chats that give me ideas about things I can get involved in.

Bloomberg has a great working culture and there is always a lot to learn. There are so many opportunities to learn and develop on a daily basis with access to a lot of resources that help in personal growth. Everyone in Bloomberg is very helpful and approachable.
I would advise anyone applying to Bloomberg to have an open mindset and be innovative. It is all about finding better solutions to processes and to make the workflow more efficient. It is also crucial to be open to new ideas and explore what you enjoy in the job and what could be done different that would help towards your personal development.
