Business fibre planner, plan circuit installations for businesses throughout Yorkshire. Time management & personal responsibility are the most important skills required
Developed skills around time management, personal responsibility, team work, communication. New skills include learning how to utilise different kinds of software and create end-to-end fibre plans from business locations to Virgin Media hub sites
I highly rate the programme, the sky really is the limit I have found, as I have been allowed to go for it and really challenge myself, in the knowledge that my manager and team are there when I need them for their advice and expertise
I would describe the programme as structured but flexible. Time is clearly set aside to distinguish on the job training and theoretical apprentice learning which I like. The programme suits me well as it also allows me to organise myself to meet workloads
There is a culture of support at Virgin Media. My line manager has been supportive throughout, and the team are always a email or phone call away, and willing and happy to help
My coach is brilliant, very proactive and always provides personal tailored feedback. Unfortunately, as a whole the training provider is a mixed bag with some of their employees not so helpful/interested, but I have been fortunate to have a committed coach
I think the approach toward teaching the qualification is useful, the focus on knowledge, skills and behaviours creates easy to understand application to my role. Its worth noting, this structure isn't straightforward at the start of the programme and could be better put across
There is a committee that really pushes collaboration between graduates, apprentices and interns which has been great, creates a solid foundation and sense of belonging
Yes
The company treats its staff well, I feel valued even though I'm only 6 months in. I understand how I am progressing and feel I have been well supported throughout this progress. The handling of covid19 pandemic has been really good for me as a new starter, there has been real focus on keeping us learning throughout despite the challenges
Be yourself, prepare well and try to relax as much as possible
