Manufacturing Engineering apprentice: Supporting product life cycles and creating/implementing processes which meet customer requirement. Consistently improving processes based on current challenges and previous lessons learnt.
Problem solving on a day to day basis. Improved skills with understanding the value of data and how important it is to analyse correctly.
I enjoy the opportunities involved due to how many different teams there are within the company. There are many experienced engineers who are very helpful on a day to day basis and you never know what challenges will occur.
Due to COVID-19, the programme has suffered with apprenticeship extension time and the hybrid working system differs from each department. Some teams work from home all the time which affects apprentice development. The one day a week degree for 3 years is very intense including full time learning at work.
Rolls-Royce do give plenty of support to apprentices whilst on the various programmes. There are many challenges apprentices face, however there is always support.
For the manufacturing engineering degree apprenticeship, we have switched training providers and now I feel I have much more support than previous years.
University degree has definitely helped with knowledge on various materials/ programming and manufacturing processes. Also day job tasks have helped with completing various university assignments. NVQ qualification knowledge based questions seem repetitive and time consuming.
