I work with young people in semi-independent accommodation. I support them to develop important life skills and progress towards independence. I also support them to develop their personal interests and goals.
Yes, I have learned a lot of new skills such as how to react in crisis situations and how to offer emotional support and guidance. I have also done some training on drug and alcohol misuse and how to recognise and act in CSE and CCE cases.
I enjoy the programme a lot and enjoy learning new skills and developing the ones I already have. I am yet to see what more the programme has to offer.
The programme seemed a bit confusing at first, however after some time I realised it`s not too complicated, it just takes some time to get used to it.
My employer offers a lot of support. The team leaders are always there to ask a question and offer guidance.
My training provider has been very supportive so far and I have received help and guidance whenever I have requested it.
I think the qualification is useful. A lot of the work I do is based around learning that is relevant and needed for the job so it makes sense that it`s all connected and helpful.
Due to covid, we have not been able to socialise outside of work. Normally we have a Christmas dinner party or we have food together after team meetings, but this has been stopped at the moment.
