I worked in audit, auditing the financial statements of a company with a 31/12/20 year end. I sampled different areas and tested these to gain confidence over balances provided to us by the client. I also performed extensive documentation on any work performed. I was in charge of the well being of team members and attended many different virtual meetings with my team.
My communication with my team and the client has definitely improved. I have also learned how to use excel much more efficiently and have gained many skills in this area.
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement and couldn't have asked for more given the current pandemic.
Very well organised, there was plenty of support for me from people of varying levels and i never felt like i couldn't go to someone for support.
Lots of support, in terms of both wellbeing and my personal development.
I haven't been working towards qualifications during this placement, but i have seen others go off for weeks at 'college' to allow them to revise for upcoming exams. This seems to be excellent support from an outsider's perspective.
The qualification i will gain through my degree massively helps my role. it gives me a good accounting understanding as well as understanding on the importance of audits and qualities such as professional scepticism.
There were plenty of social events such as a virtual curry night and a get to know my team night. We also had plenty of coffee meetings to keep check on veryones wellbeing. I'm sure in a world without the pandemic, these would be even more abundant.
Yes
I've thoroughly enjoyed my placement and the support provided by PwC has been amazing. I can't wait to come back for another placement, and hopefully get the full experience in the office.
Make sure you prepare well for interviews and familiarise yourself with the company.
