Audit work on a variety of clients during busy season. Working in teams to help audit companies working on a variety of areas such as cash, payables, receivables and payroll. Looking at the financial statements and performing audit testing including sampling and substantive analytics. Looking at the presentation of financial statements.
Developed my technical skills on excel including use of V-lookups, sum if formulas. Skills in team working, communication with clients and time management skills. Developed skills of self leadership, creating task plans and meeting internal and external deadlines. Developed analytical skills and furthered my broader accounting knowledge from university learning.
The programme has really been good at applying the theoretical knowledge gained in university lectures and study into a real life situation. The team both at university and the office are great at helping you to meet new people and develop networking skills as well as encouraging you to push yourself and apply your knowledge.
The programme is well structured and the organisation is well communicated. The programme leaders always communicate the structure and you feel well supported. The mixture of university learning and practical experience is well incorporated and the transition between university and placement if helped by training at the start of each placement.
There is lots of support available from the employer in terms of well being support and help to integrate with the office. You are assigned a buddy to help answer any questions and a senior staff member who you can reach out to as well. There are champions who have been through the same programme who are always available too.
The support from university is great and they are in communication with us during term time as well as when we are on placement. The structure of learning and expected timelines are layed out clearly and regular sessions to update for changes are held. The lecturers are great and they are available even when on placement to help with any queries
The placement takes all the theoretical knowledge and applies it in very real scenarios. The knowledge gained while at uni helps you to have a better base level understanding of the work you are completing. The content of learning is expanded and gives you a good background understanding of the type of work and problems we face on placement.
There are social events held even in the virtual working environment. This includes office virtual games socials once a month and also weekly quizzes and activities which give you a chance to meet people at the office you may not have worked with before. These events are great for meeting people and feeling integrated with the office.
Yes
PwC is very supportive and there are lots of opportunities within the firm. The company is very friendly and very well organised. The training received is great and really useful when you start work. The support systems in place to as for help are good and people are always happy to help eachother
PwC have some great resources on their website to help you apply for their roles. The goals and qualities desired are listed on the website so I would suggest looking at that. Also doing some general research into the office and any notable clients they have is always useful for background knowledge.
