The role is a trainee auditor. The activities will depend on the engagement but you are likely to work on a range of financial statement line items. Most morning's began with a team briefing where I had my work assigned for the day.
My proficiency in using excel has improved immensely. You are required to complete mandatory training such as completing e-learns on money laundering, independence and various accounting standards. The work experience counts towards you ICAEW practical work experience hours.
I thoroughly enjoyed my first placement. The teams which I worked with were extremely friendly and patient. High quality coaching is incredibly important to PWC and I felt supported throughout. I have learnt so much over such a short space of time and will be able to apply this to my university studies.
The programme is very well structured. Before you begin working full-time you are provided with over a week of training. The training was excellent and helps to set expectations, introduce you to new software and gives you the chance to ask any questions which you may have.
My team members were aware that this was my first audit and adapted their coaching accordingly. You are assigned a career coach who provides you with support throughout your placement. My career coach was excellent and was more than willing to schedule calls to answer any questions.
The work which I have completed on placement has definitely help to consolidate and reinforce my knowledge. I now have a good understanding of what it is like to work as an auditor during a busy season.
Due to completing the placement virtually we did not have the opportunity to attend social events. However, my engagement team had a weekly thirty minute game / quiz which gave us a chance to socialise with one another.
