Auditors are specialists who review the accounts of companies and organisations to ensure the validity and legality of their financial records. My job day-to-day involves working on software like Aura and Connect in order to do this. I have to act with professional scepticism throughout to ensure the audit is accurate.
I have learnt loads of skills on my first placement. The biggest improvement I have seen is from the way I communicate with clients, I am now so much more confident. I have also improvement massively with my IT skills, working on excel, aura and connect as well as google drive has done this.
I have loved the programme. On the jobs which I have enjoyed the most, there has been the correct support there for me and I have been fully included in the team. I have been given responsibility even though I was new and properly coached through all the tasks so that I completed them correctly.
The programme is very well structured in the fact that we are at university from september to christmas followed by placement till easter and then followed my university again until summer. This means you get a bit of a break to split up university work as well as getting to be part of busy season on placement.
There is a lot of support given in terms of wellbeing. I especially liked the fact they enjoyed you to take a break for a walk in sunlight hours and make up the time later so that it was more flexible. There is lots of support from senior associates to help with your work.
ICAEW send out a lot of emails and host a lot of lifestreams which we are able to join to get a better understanding of the business/ auditing sector. There create workbooks for our exams and question banks so that we can practice for our exams. This helps to ensure we pass.
The ICAEW is a well respected qualification. I know that it is setting me up with the best advantage I can have in the working world. It has topics on anything from business law to mathematics in order to ensure we have the best understanding about anything we could come across when working.
Due to covid 19, we were unable to go to the office unless there was a business or personal need. I know under normal circumstances that there are sports teams, team night outs and socials as well as a sports day in summer. The leeds office also has a roof top area to spend lunchtimes.

I love working for PwC. I think there is a big team spirit and a sense of support where everyone is willing to help. There is a big sense that the people at the top care about all their workers and want us to have the best working environment possible.
PwC is a very competitive company to get into. In order to be successful in your application, it is worth really researching what PwC is all about. It is important that you can work in a team well and that you want to support others. Don't forget to show your personality!
