On a day to day basis we carry out general maintenance around the airport to make sure that the operation of the airport can run smoothly without any big delays to people flights.
I have learnt many new skills, especially the electrical skills that we use on a day to day basis. As well as learning new electrical skills I have also been able to improve my mechanical skills to a certain degree as well.
This apprenticeship is a very enjoyable apprenticeship as it offers a wide range of learning and with this it allows you to have a chance to improve your existing skills or learn new skills which is inevitable with such a wide range of work.
This programme is very well organised and as well as being able to complete your level 3 BTEC you also get the opportunity to complete a HNC. This structure will help you later on in life as you will be able to prove to an employer your wide range of skills and qualifications
In this job there is no shame in going to your employer to receive help with anything you need. Obviously this means that you are going to be able to get help with anything you need.
My training provider provides an adequate amount of support but during these covid times it has obviously been more difficult.
The qualifications that we do at college are all beneficial towards learning the job and coming back from the one day at college you can really put those things that you have learnt into action.
At Gatwick there is always an opportunity to meet up with colleagues outside of work and take part in social activities.

The apprenticeship offers a wide range of skills and therefore you will have a very good base set of skills to take into later life with you. These skills will always improve if you choose to stay at Gatwick.
