Right now I’m in college 5 days a week learning a vast amount of engineering which involves anything from welding to electrical instillation my job consists of mostly practical work but there is a fair amount of theory to go along side it the balance is a perfect between the two is perfect although I do enjoy practical work more this involves lathe work to pillar drills anything in a workshop.
I have just come out of school so yes everything I have been thought is new to me so therefore whatever I’m being told is more knowledge I have learned how to weld machine and use hand fitting tools practically and improved massively on my mathematical knowledge from school and written work
I love what I do because I have always wanted to go into an industry which is mainly practical based so being able to do it everyday is amazing and I wouldn’t want to change it the work in college is very interesting learning new things and being able to use my hands every day is great
Everything is set out really well we get a fair amount of time set aside for breaks and the timetable that got given to us has been very simple to understand and I know where to go and how to get there the curriculum is been set out very good as I know what’s coming is I have any assignments upcoming in the future
I receive a lot of support from my employer my manager is always there if I need to talk about anything and gives me support on work or general things going on in my life they try to get us in as much as possible into the workplace which is great for experience ready for next year
I get a lot of support from my training provider there always there on Microsoft teams if we have any issues and in college are very good at what they do. We get set out work very well so we can spread out assignments throughout the year making it easier for us to complete them on time
I feel that having the qualifications definitely makes me work harder because having them under my belt is amazing and makes me want to drive to do well for Gatwick also having the knowledge from college is going to be necessary for knowing what I need to do to help out at gatwick
Every year Gatwick takes the apprentices to out of bound which is an activity week that allows all the apprentices to get to know each other better which is great for when we go into the workplace and it should be a really fun week going out of our normal comfort zones
Yes
I would one hundred percent recommend Gatwick to a friend because I feel I’ve been welcomed into the Gatwick airport community very well everyone I’ve met is so nice and friendly I have learned so much and am getting great qualifications on top of all that which is amazing
Decently would say believe in your self and be confident in your ability because you can do and achieve anything when you put your mind to it make sure to be friendly and you will get along with everyone very well
