On a daily basis, I am mainly in contact and working within a team which usually consist of senior associates and other associates. We work together to audit different companies financial statements to ensure a true and fair view is portrayed to their shareholders and those who have financial interest within the company.
I have learnt numerous different skills whilst working at PwC. In particular, my excel and general computer skills have been expanded and significantly improved since having to use the different IT platforms which PwC provide in order to complete an audit. Furthermore, my teamwork and communication skills have improved due to having to work on a daily basis with a team. Being in constant communications with various different clients has also developed my professionalism and ability to source information which may be needed.
I greatly enjoy my programme as in all honesty I have the best of both worlds. I have the opportunity to gain valuable experience within a well known and well thought after firm whilst also experiencing university and living away from home for the first time.
In my opinion, my course is very well organised, from the module lectures to the placement itself. All module lecturers are well prepared and keen to answer any questions which I have whilst also keeping lectures interesting and enjoyable, which I'm sure at times can be a struggle! With regards to placement, the office I was based at was well aware of the Flying Start pupils and had organised numerous points of contact to go to when needed.
I think as students we receive a lot of support compared to other similar degrees which I'm very grateful for as it can be very daunting starting your first job, even if it was only for a 3 month placement!
ICAEW are in constant communications with our module leaders and head of degree ensuring that our modules are specified towards the qualifications and exams we will be having each summer.
The modules and exams which are specified towards our course help to improve our knowledge enabling us to perform our role in PwC to the best of our ability.
PwC have numerous social activities which we can take part in, for example there is a PwC sports day which takes place in the summer. There are also multiple sports teams and clubs for everyone to find one which fits them.
