Working with a mentor through jobs, with him giving us a step by step guide which we work through. If there's any questions or anything we get stuck on he helps and explains it thoroughly. Every day is something different to get us used to all the different tasks.
I didn't know half the tools i know now and that's only a starting point. Before i hardly knew anything about gas and how to fix piping or how to service different machines. And only a couple of months in i have a greater understanding of all of it.
I really enjoy the hands on approach to the apprenticeship and the fact we get to learn and work at the same time is really helpful because every time we learn something new you see it on the jobs so it is really enjoyable and satisfying. Also the team im with helps a lot too.
My programme is really well organised. From day to day things at base to college and training the whole 3 years is nearly all set up so we know what we're doing from month to month as well. It really helps organise you so you know where you are and what you're doing.
Throughout the start of the apprenticeship there is a lot of guidance and a lot of support from everyone at the business and so far it has carried on. It makes you feel happy at work and safe. Even little things like email updates to see how you're getting on to seeing someone in person to do the same thing.
Especially during this difficult time they're really helpful when working through assignments and tasks. If you're stuck or need help its pretty easy to get hold of them and have a chat about the work even if its a small thing. They support you and help you to fulfil the best grades possible.
With doing assignments and learning about different aspects for my role when i go on site or onto the job i see different things that i didn't know before. So they really go together well. The qualification is a basic guide to different jobs in the role so it does really help with that baseline knowledge.
At the minute due to COVID there hasn't been many social events, but they have tried there best to get us all on teams to do volunteering activities and events. Which is good for your portfolio and CV. They do a lot of networking mostly again through emails and teams to help you the best they can throughout the apprenticeship.
Yes
I have already recommended a friend to the job purely for the quality of training. Having their own training centre provides an amazing opportunity to learn in smaller groups than going to a normal college. Also the reputation of the company is high and is a great place to work.
One thing I would say about the application process is they have a huge volume of people going for the same job, so it does take them a while to get back to you so don't be disheartened if they don't get back to you straight away because they will eventually.
