  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My day to day tasks at McDonalds consist of serving great quality food and beverages whilst ensuring the cleanliness and safety our customers It also involves casting up tills, inventory, waste management and shift running. Which I turn will result in a great shift not only for our customers but also our staff.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Whilst completing this apprenticeship, it has pushed me to want to learn more whilst earning, whilst completing an apprenticeship with McDonalds you are on full pay, which is obviously a drive in its self to want to learn more and actually learn, whilst on my apprenticeship I have learnt skills like how to deal with difficult situation not only with customers but with our staff aswell which in turn results in a better working environment for everyone

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Whilst completing my programme I enjoyed it as it worked around me and my shifts at work, I could easily take 10 mins here and there to help me progress in my apprenticeship, although the majority was independent learning, I did have tasks which involved people watching how I ran shifts and how I could've dealt with a situation differently

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I would say it was fair, I was given multiple regional trainers, this was due to the trainers being closer to me, although this didn't really affect my learning I think it would've been better to grow a relationship with the 1 person rather then getting to know one trainer to then having to get to know another

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • The support I got was from me asking and not them asking me if I need anything, bit they would always help when I asked, it wasn't exactly in the best terms but it was enough for me to understand and expand on in my business project which result in me getting a distinction.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • We have regular meeting which was always 1 2 1, this happened every month and if you felt like you needed the extra support you could literally make another meeting to be held over the phone for extra support, they have always been good when it comes towards having time of and working around your commitments

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I have always been one to better my knowledge and I always want to do what's best for staff and customers. I believe whilst doing this apprenticeship I have come across as a manager that someone can speak to confidently and raise issues with, I always try and resolve issues as they happen (nip in the bud)

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Whilst completing my apprenticeship I had to do a business project, I based mine on the love where you live campaign and was completing regular trash walk in and around the restaurant, building a relationship with the community and spreading the love to say we do care about our environment and community

  • 9a. Would you recommend McDonald's to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • McDonalds is a busy restaurant but with the right mind set and determination there is a job for every whether that is lobby or behind the counter, we have had a few crew members who applied to be behind the counter but it isn't job for them and now they do lobby and provide a great customer experience

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to McDonald's?
  • Don't be shy and ask questions, if you do this you can progress rapidly and confidently, there isn't anything to be afraid of the training provided is 1st class. So go for it as even if the job isn't right for you, at least you can say you gave it ago and it wasn't a job for you
