I work as part of a team to audit financial statements of clients. This involves performing testing of year end balances in order to gain comfort over accuracy and completeness.
This work placement has helped me to grow in confidence and communicate professionally as a lot of the work is client based. It gives you the opportunity to learn a lot of new skills from others, as well as using your initiative to figure things out for yourself.
I really enjoyed this programme. The people you work with are so friendly and happy to help you along the way. It has been a great start to getting experience working at a big 4 firm.
I believe the placement is well structured. You get the opportunity to go to university and then apply that knowledge to real life work. It really helps to cement your knowledge and gain an understanding of the different roles you can choose to go take on.
There are multiple support networks from both a career coach, to managers, to other employees working with you. There's also plenty of online support available with help hotlines regularly advertised.
Everyone is always willing to help.
I believe that by gaining hands on work experience, as well as studying for accountancy qualifications, you are then able to apply what you learn to real life scenarios which really helps you to remember key skills.
I am not involved in any of these personally but they are regularly advertised. It is easy to get involved if you wish to and all activities are made known to staff.

It has been an amazing experience to work at a large company where the people are at the centre of everything they do. I have felt really supported and have thoroughly enjoyed each placement.
Be prepared but be yourself.
