  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My role typically changes every 6mnth/ to 1 year to align with my studies in university. A typical 'day to day' for me is never the same, I am given opportunities to push and develop myself in all areas. It can go from one day being on site with customers and discussing new projects, to then taking charge of that project within the next week, and being allowed to understand and learn in areas that usually wouldn't.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Personally I have developed on multiple skills since joining the organisation. Firstly, I have become extremely confident within my role and working in such a big company , and this is down to Siemens' culture allowing you to take ownership of your career. I have been given opportunities to develop on my managerial skills which has allowed me to mature and understand the company with a greater insight.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Within my Apprenticeship I am fortunate to be given the steering wheel to explore areas that I have real interest in. I thoroughly enjoy the flexibility that the company gives me to develop educationally as well as professionally, and I can acknowledge that not all apprentices in other businesses get given the opportunity to work as flexibly.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is structured to a high degree for myself. My manager and I know what is expected from me educationally and professionally, and this is all down to open and honest communication. Having a manager that has came from the same degree has helped with structuring out my placements in order for them to align with my study topics. In regards to the wider business, everyone within the scheme knows the structure and understands Siemens culture and goals.
