My role is to assist on mechanical breakdowns, participation in preventative maintenance, deliver training, to assist operators so they are able to reach maximum output and reduce downtime and minimise waste. I am also required to input data into sap and produce work orders to log my work and order parts required
I have learnt a lot of skills through both my course and my co workers. I am continuing to learn from them and I have 3 months left to finish my NVQ. I am also learning new skills in different departments as I want to broaden my knowledge in different areas around the plant
I really enjoy the practical side of learning and having more hands on training. I enjoyed doing my PEO in college on my first year as it was all about machining and using workshop equipment. I enjoy fault finding and resolving issues, taking things apart and seeing how they work
My program for the past 3 years has been structured well. I know where I am, what I have to do and where I need to be. My college are very helpful if I need help in any area and they are just a phone call away if I get stuck with anything out of hours
The support I have received from my co-workers has been amazing, they have been a great help. I have been made to feel part of a team and I am enjoying working with and learning from them. My current manager has also been a great help and I feel I can approach him at anytime
My training provider has been very supportive, we have regular meetings and targets are set. He has given me all the information that I need to continue working despite COVID and during challenging times. Restrictions haven’t helped our meetings but we have worked around this and we are still on target
My qualifications will help me a lot. I have gained a better understanding and have gained a lot of knowledge about the plant. Because I now know more it makes me stop and think more about the task and how to go about doing it. I enjoy it a lot more
We have a social club which, before the coronavirus, I was a regular. We also have various competitions at work which are organised through the reception coordinator. We also have a welfare and committee who organise events which we can chose to take part in, like days out to theme parks

I have worked at Knighton for 19.5 years. I have alway put an effort into my work and they have always supported me. If the next 19.5 years are like the last, I will be pleased with what I have accomplished. Hopefully I will have a long and happy career
If you put the effort in, you will reap the rewards. Work hard play hard. Always show an interest and always adapt to change. Have a positive attitude and a good work ethic. Be friendly and approachable and enjoy what you do. Help others and never be afraid to ask for help
