My role is a project manager, which involves managing the project I am assigned to and ensure successful delivery in budget and on time. This also involves creating plans and governance documents while working with tech teams and updating stakeholders on the progress of the project to ensure stakeholders are kept in the loop.
This job role has helped me develop both my communication and leadership skills to allow me to succeed in my job role. This role will also help to develop team building skills too allow teams to work together to successfully deliver the project. I have also gained both the agile and project management qualification in my previous foundation apprenticeship.
I enjoy my programme due to the team environment. My team is very supportive and allow me to grow my skills. The work given is a good balance so I am not overwhelmed with the work alongside the studying for my qualification. The company culture is very welcoming and supportive as a whole.
My programme is very structured. The induction was helpful and the resources available were highlighted as well as the support offered. There are support systems at both my work and through my training provider with frequent support meetings to ensure everything is on track and to highlight any issues I had.
My line manager provides the best level of support with regular meetings being held. There is also support given from my colleagues for my project work. There are also support from my career coach through my employer. There are meetings also to ensure everything is going well and is on track.
We have a skills coach from our training provider to ensure any questions or queries we have are answered. There are also regular sessions on different topics to help with our skills which is helpful to achieve the degree. The skills coach is helpful in giving tips and advice towards the qualification.
There are many courses which I have had to do towards my qualification which is very close to my job role as a project manager. These courses allow me to identify different ways of working and methods of project management. I have also used my agile qualification in my workplace, applying the methods to my job role.
There are clubs and activities to do at my workplace. There are social clubs, sports clubs as well as opportunities to volunteer with social initiatives. I have taken place in robot sessions held for school children as well as an elderly persons christmas party. Most of these clubs are held at my work site as it is a big site with over 4500 employees.

Barclays is a supportive environment with flexible working. This suits for different employee circumstances, especially with the current climate of COVID-19. There is also the ability to move job roles if you want to explore different areas of the bank. Colleagues in the bank are welcoming and helpful to each other.
I would say to research Barclays and look into the values of the bank. During any interviews/assessments I would advise to be yourself as Barclays will match you to the job role which seems best suited to your skills which are assessed when applying, however, there is the ability to change if you don't like the job role you are initially put in.
