During my week long work placement I took on tasks such as completing spreadsheet work and shadowing (e.g. sitting in on briefings, etc.), which involved seeking expertise and advice from members of the office (including my assigned 'buddy'), as well as the other people who were also on Business Insight Week. Throughout the week my peers and I planned a short presentation to show what we had learnt during the week which we delivered at the end of the week on the assessment day.
During my week I developed on skills such as team and independent working, as well as public speaking skills. I also learnt more about the pathways through which one can enter PwC and how to prepare for assessment days and interviews.
I enjoyed it a lot; I loved meeting like-minded peers and discovering more about PwC. Everyone in the office was super friendly and it helped me to decide what I want to do after finishing my A-Levels.
I felt really valued by PwC; each person on the Insight Week was assigned to an individual 'buddy' who helped them with any questions/personal problems and we were all given feedback. I have also heard a lot from PwC since then and they have asked me to be a young ambassador for them. (They also gave us lots of food and PwC merchandise :])
It was well organised- there was a clear plan of the week that was explained to us about a month before we did the work experience and it was also reinforced and given to us in booklet form on the first day of the week. We were flexible with this time table though; during the shadowing, if we wished to sit in on certain meetings or do more relevant things then we were allowed to do that instead.
Lots of support, we were ensured that if we had any worries or concerns then we could just ask our buddies or contact the head of the scheme.
I currently am not employed by them but there was plenty of support given when needed.
We did get paid for the week, which I didn't know about until after I had applied- it was an added bonus.
Yes, as previously stated I have been asked to be an ambassador for the scheme and so there's still opportunity for me to go and help at their events, etc.
Yes
Overall, it was an excellent experience and definitely a good way to spend a week.
Practise for the psychometric tests as they can be very difficult, and make sure you are prepared for the telephone interview. During the week, don't be afraid to ask questions and have fun! You will meet some really interesting people.
