I am currently studying Business, Accounting and Finance at Newcastle University which is one of the "Flying Start" programmes run by PwC. I am currently in first year studying six modules including Business Management, Economics, Business Law, Financial & Management Accounting and a professional skills modules which is partly taken by PwC representatives.
This course has given me great opportunities to meet lots of new people through many of the activities that PwC run in our professional skills module. Having a class size of 58 people we all soon got to know each other very well through various group exercises such as team presentations and a weekly commercial quiz, which have all developed my communication, listening and interpersonal skills.
I think it is a very enjoyable course to be studying, as along with the very interesting modules that I study, the social aspect of the programme is something that I find great as well. Having a smaller group we often organise nights out together and often help each other with our studies which has allowed us to develop close friendships, which is something, that I think, is unique to this course.
Our weekly sessions with PwC are always very interactive and productive, giving us an insight into key areas such as the Business ethics, Communication and Team management within the PwC commercial structure. The representatives that come along are always so helpful with any questions that we would have and they have provided us with helpful tips and guidance based on their own experience whilst working at PwC.
The programme is very well structured and we receive a great deal of support and guidance from our course directors and the PwC representatives. The class is split up into different development groups and each group receives a mentor which is an older student is studying the programme. I think this is a great system because as a group we are in regular contact with our mentor, who is more than happy to give us help with any projects that we have and share his experiences from when he was a first year.
N/A. We have not received any training yet as part of our degree programme. Just before our first period of Work experience in Second Year we will receive a few weeks training from PwC themselves, which I believe will be great for us to do, insuring we are ready to hit the ground running in our first few weeks working with PwC.

PwC give great opportunities for graduates and this is evident in the many school leavers programs that they sponsor. They are one of the leading Professional Services Firms in the world and they are constantly expanding which I believe will give many young graduates a great opportunity to progress their career further once in employment and follow a very interesting career path.
Look into the many different School Leaver programs that PwC have to offer and see which is the right one for you. There are many insights days and assessment centres that PwC provide, so go along and see what opportunities there is for you to get your qualifications and work for the firm.
