Being a mobile job, each day starts with planning for the journey ahead, I check my emails and prepare the company vehicle for the journey, once at the technical site, I open up whatever plan I need to work on and go to the technical site to preform my duties.
I have learnt a lot of technical skills to do with the job role with in the first few months of working with in the company, skills such as how to set up and upgrade a network properly and smaller but very important skills such as cable managing and organization skills.
Every one is very keen on providing assistance for the apprentices and I truly feel that I have a say in the programme, so far it as been a truly enjoyable experience that's is going smoothly even despite the current covid19 situation, i really have to commend Virgin Medias apprentice program for this.
Virgin Media as tried their absolute best to structure and organize the apprentice ship, however Estio seems to come short when it comes to this, having changed the schedule a few times already and changed the structure completely after joining programmed, it proved fairly troublesome to plan the days ahead, this issue seems to have settled in that past coupled of months
Even ever something to do with the apprentice programme comes up, virgin is always there to provide support, from days off to focus on my apprentice programme to learning recourses from when I have tasks coming up. For this I'm completely confident when ever i need to do something related to studies when working.
When taking any sort of training I get given plenty of time and help to ensure that i successfully pass any qualifications that i need, even if I give short notice to my mentor, for example I need Friday off to work on my case study, I will be granted the following time off.
The qualification itself is a method to assist your learning journey, and should not be taken in to consideration when put against work practice, however the courses that i have been taking are excellent at providing the theory side of the work that I perform and more of than not explain things that I might currently do, however in mire detail.
Unfortunaly with the current events happening world wide, mainly covid19 all extra curricular events have changed massively, for example any calls that would have normally taken place with each ether are now done via Microsoft teams, I don't really have anything negative to say about this since there is no other option for the means time.
Yes
I think working for Virgin media is a excellent choice if you want to get started in a career to do with networking, with an excellent mentor to mentee programmed, virgin media really does stand out as a company that I would absolutely recommend to everyone, with out any hesitation to do so.
One of the biggest things about applying to virgin media, is to be a honest and down to earth person, you wont need a vast amount of technical knowledge, however you will need to posses some skills such as team working time management and critical thinking to make it trough the interview process.
