I am an associate, in the assurance department of PwC. So taking part in a team, doing an external audit. Everyday I cover different parts of financial statements and test them. I interact everyday with my team, and with my client several times a week. My responsibilities chnage, depending on what client I am. With smaller companies, I am given more resposibilities and with bigger companies, smaller volumes of responsibility.
Yes. I have learnt how to use the software used in PwC - Aura. Without realising, I have also rapidly developed my skills with programmes such as Excel. On a more personal level, my team-working and professional skills have increased a lot. (Also being able to cope with long hours!! - that was a shock to the system)
I do enjoy it and find this area of work very interesting - however, it is busy season and sometimes when it pushes your stress levels to the maximum you can feel like you you do not enjoy it. But that is only to be expected!
I do feel valued - considering I started with so many gaps in my knowldge, everyone has been patient to make sure I know exactly what I am doing etc.
Very well organised - credit given to both PwC and Newcastle University!
Very good support! We are assigned people managers and buddies to help us whenever we need. And they are always checking up on us and making sure we are settled and getting on well. We also have the older years who make a very good effort to chat away, organise socials etc and make sure they always know we are getting on fine.
See Above.
Very well. Solely due to the fact we do not have to pay for accomodation.
We have relatively long hours throughout busy season, so my main time outside of work would be weekends.
Yes
Its got an unbelievable support network, gives you many opportunities to work your way up and change departments. And whereas to work if you want to persue a degree in Finance?!
If it's busy season - do be ready for long hours and some stressful days.
