I am doing my apprenticeship with the Community Investment Team in Scotland. I help the team with admin duties, developing new project ideas to support employability, environmental policies and local charities in Scotland. I also manage our social media accounts and create videos and flyers for promotion.
Since I joined the company, I have acquired many new skills ,both soft and hard and I have developed existing ones. For example, I have developed my skills in video editing, copywriting and communication. In addition, I have learnt how to work with others which helped me to build my confidence.
I really enjoy my apprenticeship as no day is the same. I have a range of duties to work with from admin tasks like taking minutes and filling, to more creative duties like creating videos and content for social media! I love also the fact that my apprenticeship is very rewarding as we work to benefit local communities.
Despite the current situation, I would say that my programme is very organised. I have meetings with my mentor almost every day and very often with my team. The company also tries to bring together all the apprentices with different online activities. I would say my college could try better
My employer supports me a lot with my apprenticeship with different ways.
My tutor is helping me a lot with my assignments but the college could do more as there is a lack on study materials.
I`m learning many things both in practice and in theory form my course at college.
Because of covid there are not many social activities but we can have sometimes an online meeting with other apprentices
Yes
So far, I have a great experience with the company. Balfour Beatty gives the opportunity to everyone and supports you with a mentor and extra trainning to be better at your work. Work-life balance is also good.
Do your research, have a professional CV and prepare for your interview.
