My role is a Electrical deign apprentice in the substation department, it requires me to have great CAD skills and other engineering software's, good knowledge of substations and OHL, great understanding of project requirements and vital communication skills with colleagues who have different roles in the project.
I have improved my CAD skills, also have good understanding of an engineering drawing, improved my communication skills by meeting other colleagues in the business and also starting to understand how a substation works
so far I am enjoying this program and how it helped me improve my knowledge and skills
When I started the program there wasn't a clear plan of how I will be trained practically it was just ideas, but since coming back from my first block release doing my HNC, now there is a good structure and practical training, I have been assigned a mentor, I have weekly apprenticeship catch-ups and also get assigned tasks to do that will help me get trained to become an Electrical deign engineer.
I have great support from my employer in terms of helping me become an Engineer or just allowing me to express who I am as a person.
I have good support from my training provide in terms of helping me improve my theory knowledge and also having tutorials in which if there is any problems or something you didn't understand they can help and guide you.
My qualifications is very suited to the role I'm doing and I believe the knowledge I will gain will help me a lot
There have been social activities in which you meet new apprenticeships, Balfour provide a week for this in which you do a range of activities and meet and greet new apprentices and also higher people in the business and the department you are in.
