I complete daily tasks such as maintaining the daily dashboard which provides data for various departments within the business. I also work on short term and long term projects ranging in complexity from small queries to longer ongoing pieces of work.
I have learnt and developed a huge variety of skills since starting which have exceeded my expectations. I have been enrolled onto various training courses that have not only broadened my knowledge of the business and its operations but also on a technical scale too.
Although this is a big change from my previous role during study, I enjoy the change and the challenges set for me. Working from home was a worry that I would feel isolated, but NBS has made extra effort to make me feel welcome and included
I have a healthy balance of work life and study and NBS are extremely helpful and flexible when it comes to studying for my apprenticeship. The structure of the studying is enjoyable and not too intense, whilst also having a good level of difficulty and it's challenges.
The support I receive from my employer is amazing, not only do I get support from my manager, but I have provided with a mentor and a buddy. Alongside this support, we have a peer support group of other apprentices who which I have created a good relationship with.
I feel there could be more support during the writing of portfolio work. Although the support is there by email it is unclear on times I can call or contact them outside of scheduled meetings. Other than this the support during sessions is great.
Although all not may seem relevant at the moment, it gives me a deeper understanding of the theory behind the work that I produce which in turn helps me to understand why it is being asked of me and what its uses could be in the future.
Joining the business during covid, I may not be as aware about these activities as I could be. However, so far I have taken part in an apprentice bake-off, volunteering and have signed up to do a 5k along with other members of the society.
Yes
Since joining the business I have virtually met many members of the society that I may not have met in real life at the office. I feel NBS have put in the extra effort and considered the worries of working from home during these times.
Do it. Don't be afraid to admit you lack skill in particular areas as there is a lot of support to help you reach your potential.
