General operations and efficiency management involving everyday problem solving and continuous improvement.
Increased ability to communicate on all levels with both the shop floor and the senior managers. Its provided experience that gets you comfortable with managing your own workload and taking accountability.
The programme has been an eye opening experience into how large opportunities run. I have enjoyed the fast paced environment it brings, however it naturally comes with its difficult days and situations.
The Operations Degree programme was potentially less structured than any other apprenticeship on offer. People often found that as an operations apprentice they didn't know what it was we were supposed to be doing. On the other hand, this forced us to take charge of our own development.
On this apprenticeship there are a lot of stakeholders to help you and support you. However, sometimes these stakeholders clash when they have differing opinions for your development.
The university is very good at allowing us to apply our learning to the organisation which really improves our understanding.
The qualification backs up a lot of processes the site has in place which can be directly compared. The programme also covers elements of business that will not be seen in my area of work, but provides clarity on how all functions come together.
