As a tool maker the main roles are die maintenance which involves many different skills such as grinding, welding, drilling and stoning. Other parts of the job involve manufacturing items such as a mallet.
I have learned many skills, from not being able to do many skills, to being able to weld, grind, stone, machine and use manual tools such as files.
I do enjoy working on lots of different projects that come into the toolroom and all the skills that you learn along the way.
The programme is structured relatively well
I receive lots of support from my employer, each week we have meetings to discuss how the apprenticeship is going and if there any problems that they can help with, which they do help with.
I receive lots of support from my training provider, each week we have meetings to discuss how the apprenticeship is going and if there any problems that they can help with, which they do help with. If extra help is needed then it will be put in place by my training provider.
The more the knowledge that I gain from my qualifications the more competent I feel in the working environment, this helps to perform more efficiently in my role as a toolmaker.
There are no extra curricular activities I have been involved in so far, however there are lots of different opportunities such the mountain challenge which I hope to be involved in at some point in the near future.
Yes
BMW teaches you many new useful skills which are very useful and look after the apprentices very well.
It may seem like a long process trying to get into the apprenticeship but once you have got in you will not regret it as it is a very good apprenticeship that I would 100% recommend.
