My day-to-day role involves me working in office based placements to help support the production process. This could be through the use of work instructions and documentation so the production staff know what they have to do, the use of measures to understand how effective the process is being, or completing project work to complete revamp the whole process.
While completing my apprenticeship I have been able to develop many new and different skills in both my college studies as well as my placements. I have been able to improve my communication skills by talking to external companies and internal personnel, and my understanding of how each process works within the business has improved massively.
I have really enjoyed all of my apprenticeship, getting to know all of the apprentices I will be working alongside, and getting to know people my placement managers. Even the day-to-day placements have been able to offer me learning opportunities that I find enjoyable and make we want to come into work.
My apprenticeship is very well structured, even from my first day I was able to understand how each of my years during the apprenticeship would work and what would be expected of me. All of our training and qualifications were prepared for well in advance with many of the support staff offering assistance/tips when we actually came to do it.
My manager, my placement manager, my assessor, my college tutors, and all of my fellow apprentices wanted me to succeed. This meant they were more than willing to offer as much help as they can to support my development and transition from a college based role into a full time work based one.
My training provider goes above and beyond to ensure that me and all of my fellow apprentices pass our apprenticeship. All of our assessments and job reports follow a set structure that is easy to understand, and all of the reports are wanted in way before the official due date so that they can be adjusted/perfected ahead of time.
My EAL qualifications and my Foundation Degree help to perform my role more effectively. Many of the tasks I would be asked to help with at work I had at some point learnt about during my many studies, allowing me to have a jump start on the task. I could then build upon this knowledge from college with some real world activities at work.
During much of the apprenticeship I was able to get involved or be offered extra-curricular activities that would involve me advertising the apprenticeship to schools, or help out with charity events. COVID has affected our networking over the previous year but there was still opportunities to help out with charity work, this includes planting trees in a local park and setting up fundraisers for the inhouse charity.

The apprenticeship offers a strong career path with many opportunities to improve your training/qualifications, while simultaneously giving you a strong wage that soon exceeds the minimum wage across the UK. You are given a really good education with the full support of the company to ensure you pass, and the whole apprenticeship helps to refine you as a person as well as your career.
Be confident in your application and skills, BMW wants a good person who can blend well with a team and shows promise. It's also worth building up some engineering knowledge before-hand, such as an engineering course as it helps with the transition to full time learning. Most of all just focus on your work and complete it to the standard you are truly happy with, you can then be coached if any adjustments need to be made.
