My role is a HR Advisor providing support and advice to all levels of management within the business, this advice covers a vast range of areas such as disciplinary, grievance, sickness absence and performance. Also support with Occupational health and work station assessments, report on MI and look at data trends. Project work also included.
Yes, since completing my Level 5 HR management degree and apprenticeship I have leant lots of new skills which have supported me in my role. I have gained my CIPD level 5, amongst this created a development plan which I refer to on a regular basis to help me continue and develop my skills.
I really enjoy working for DLG I have an amazing team, the company culture is good and feel very comfy working here. I enjoyed the CIPD element of the apprenticeship but was unsure of the professional discussion with it being delayed quite alot due to the current covid 19 pandemic.
I felt the support I got from DLG and my team leader was amazing I couldn't of asked for anymore support really. There were times where I felt that the mentor/tutor was slow in getting feedback or responding to me about assignment questions which meant at times I had a backlog of work to complete as well as carry out my day to day role. I was given adequate study time though to complete what I needed.
I receive a lot of support from my team and manager if required. I have worked for the group for a long time so have good working relationships with a lot of HR so feel comfortable in approaching them when I have needed to. Their attitude to support me was always positive.
The tutor was very good in the support she gave, there were times when it was delayed so I did then end up with a backlog of work. In terms of the Sheffield College none really, I just attended the sessions when required to there. I did enjoy the course and the face to face sessions were beneficial.
Yes I do think that it has benefited me massively in a number of areas. It has opened my eyes up to other areas of HR which I am keen to learn more about since completing the course. I do put into practice what I have learnt on a daily basis due to the nature of my role.
Yes there are lots of different events which usually happen, this has all gone remote for the last 12 months due to covid so hard to say what is going to continue. We have regular team building zooms. When I am not working I have 4 horses so that takes up my time :)
Yes
It is a fantastic company to work for, they really treat you as a person rather than a number. In my department I feel valued and that if I needed any guidance and support the people I work with really would help me out and not pass any judgement on what the problem was. I really recommend DLG as a good place to work.
Ensure that you have researched the company and know what we are about, there are a number of values and pillars which the company uses these are good. The on boarding process is thorough and covers all areas. There are opportunities to progress, not so many in my area as the turnover is quite low but still they try to identify talent and build on that.
