My everyday role involves contacting customers either over the phone or via email in regards to their queries and just developing a strong professional relationship with them. I am required to speak to teams and colleagues within the company to provide a good service to customers.
I was provided at the start of my apprenticeship with many different training courses that involved learning more about the company and its core values. The training courses mainly included information on data security that has proven to be a very useful source of information whilst handling customers personal data everyday. Alongside this, we were given access many other online courses that helped provide extra support when working out on the sales floor. We were also given the opportunity as a team to take part in a weeks residential trip for team building where we were able to learn how to positively communicate between us and find a successful solution.
I have enjoyed different parts of the apprenticeship programme at Tech Data, the start of the apprenticeship was very heavily classroom based for around three months where we had our training before officially joining the sales floor. I found that once we had properly joined onto the sales floor into teams the programme became a lot more interesting as I was able to get hands on.
The organization and structure of the apprenticeship programme was proven to be very successful and this was proven when we were required to work from home due to covid, everybody was at home the next day with all the correct equipment provided by Tech Data. There was a working from home plan given and targets to hit most days from our managers that made working from home a lot more structured
I was given a large amount of support from my managers, colleagues and my apprenticeship coach throughout my apprenticeship from the start. This made large difference to my confidence as I knew I would always have some support from Tech Data
I was provided with weekly calls and visits with my apprentice coach to support with me. I was also given the opportunity to contact them whenever I needed to arrange an extra meeting or need to go over any extra work I had done.
I feel that due to the extra training from the apprenticeship it helps me understand customers and their business's with a wider understanding.
We are given the chance to take part in the social clubs where Tech Data offers going to the cinema, golf or going on a day trip. This is an opportunity given out to all Tech Data employees. Alongside this Tech Data also offers prize raffles that can sometimes include festival tickets or day trips out.
Yes
I have found that it has helped my confidence since joining and I am able to adjust and adapt to my surroundings within a business that has been a very useful skill to have developed.
I would suggest to others when applying Tech Data for this apprenticeship to make sure they come into Tech Data with an open mind and make sure you ask questions when unsure
