I work in the serious injury team and so my job role involves getting compensation for those who has been involved in accident and suffered catastrophic injuries. On a daily basis I review medical records, draft witness statements, instruct experts, negotiate settlements and correspond with clients.
I feel I have become a lot more confident in my role as I have to speak to new people every single day. I also feel my organisation skills have improved as there are often strict deadlines in cases that have to be complied with and so I need to organise my diary accordingly.
I really enjoy the work I do, the area of law is very interesting and I like forming a good relationship with my clients. The workload is also very well balanced and ties in well to my job role.
My programme is very well structured, I always know my next unit which lasts approximately 6 months and ends with an exam. I get a lot of support from tutors and my legal assessor and never feel in the dark.
I receive a lot of support from my employer. Everyone is aware I am an apprentice and still learning and have studying to do as well and they are very accommodating to this.
I receive a lot of support from my training provider. My tutors are always available if I am struggling with a unit and I have frequent meetings with my assessor where I can mention anything I am having a problem with.
I feel some of the units I study help in my day to day job as they tie in really well which is helpful. However, I feel the exam style is very different to a typical day in my job role and so I do not necessarily think they are the best way to measure someone's ability.
Yes, there are plenty of things for me to get involved in including charity work as we focus a lot on that. sports events, events with external providers, etc.
