My role is a trainee field engineer ! Day-to-day basis is to go customers houses, install fibre internet connection, possibly fix some of the issues they have.
New skills: Climb a pole , use ladders safe, tetra safety set up, work underground safely
I enjoy every minute of it! Challenging task been set up by trainers and/or person out on the field!
Very well organised, I always know what I’m doing 4-6 weeks ahead! Everyday covers the must subjects
Any question I have it’s never seem to be silly to them , always getting phone calls and emails to ask how I’m getting on with my jobs and how I’m getting on with the trainings.
So much support! If I get stuck on anything I always ask and I get a really good explanation, we do talk through the issues , where I did get stuck .
Really well! Always direct me in the right direction, showing me different ways to deal with the situation, better ways mostly ( which does help to get it right on a safe manner.
Current situation with COVID does not allow us to do so!
Yes
A company as big as Openreach still looks after their staff, kit you out well, make sure you get home safe after everyday. They provide you with everything , good rate of pay (even in training period).all in all it’s a nice company to work for!
Just do it! Even if you have not done anything like this before they will get you through all the training in a safe manner! They provide you all the information you will need, all they want you to do for them take is serious and listen to them!
