I assist senior members of the team with management of their files. This includes reviewing documentation, making payments and contacting clients regarding their needs. I am also involved heavily with the investment of funds which involves communication with third parties and investment advisors.
I have learnt IT skills and am now more advanced with Microsoft Excel as this is a programmer we use daily. I am also more confident in both my verbal and written communication.
I thoroughly enjoy both my job role and study. It is a great mixture of academic learning and on the job experience.
My programme is very well structured, I have my set off the job hours which is time I will spend studying. This is the same day each week which is consistent. Working though the academic side of the programme is extremely structured as we follow a strict time table /planner to ensure that we are covering the topics within a reasonable time period.
I receive a lot of support from my employer in regards to my on the job role, with my academic study I would say that my employer provides limited support but is there when needed.
I receive full support from my training provider, having fortnightly sessions to cover content. I also have quarterly progress reviews to monitor my progressing and development towards my qualification.
My qualification differs slightly to my job role, therefore I would say that it has had limited impact on the progression of my job role, however it has provided greater insight into the Litigation process and what the clients go through before coming to us.
Yes, I believe so. I have engaged recently in connect 4 and have been invited to attend a virtual escape room. The socials have decreased significantly due to COVID-19 but prior to this there was a lot to get involved with.
Yes
I would recommend Irwin Mitchell as a place to begin your legal career as it is a well establish law firm across the UK and from my experience all staff members and colleagues are wanting you to progress as much as possible. The job role is great as well as the off the job time which is interesting. The apprenticeship is fully funded and supported and is a great way to begin your first role.
My advice would be, do your research, make sure you are knowledgeable on the firm and their morals. Not only does this impress employers but will also provide a greater insight on what to expect when/ if you start at the firm. Also, be confident and believe in yourself.
