Day to day role insists of looking at graphs to see how much water is being used in an area and this will judge which area we must investigate and look for leaks. From here you can use many bits of equipment to aid in the location of leaks and then this can be booked in to be fixed.
I have gained so many different skills. I have learnt how to read graph data and judge wether this is leakage and then how to use a correlatior with pipe detection systems like a CAT and Genny. I have also learnt the regulations critical to the water industry to keep ourselves and others safe.
I enjoy the programme thoroughly as it keeps me in myself physically and mentally busy at all times. There is never any times where I am not doing something and you feel such joy with the job that I am doing because I have an impact on the local areas.
The programme had a bit of a rocky beginning due to the beginning starting in the middle of a pandemic which halted the progression to some extent. But once everything kicked in the programme has been structured very well and detailed that has been thought through well and the training providers.
I receive a lot of support from my employer as the staff wether it is my manager or other fellow colleagues everyone is happy to help with any problems and issues that I might have. They can be contacted at any time as well which is another massive benefit to myself.
I haven’t really needed much support from my training provider so far. However, I know from other fellow colleagues that if any help is needed from them they are more than happy to offer any and every help they can to me. They are always very helpful and pleasant to speak to.
The qualification training given by my training provider is essential along with the training given from my employer due to all the in depth knowledge they provide about all aspects about the job and assets that I need to know which will be crucial to the completion of day to day jobs.
Severn Trent are always offering extra curricular activities to complete as part of volunteering as we do a lot of work for local small charities and even the big charities to. This can be environmental helping schemes to clean local parks or even help out vulnerable customers in the community.

I would say anyone thinking about working at any part of Severn Trent is in for a treat. I would say jump on it as soon as possible as it is one of the best companies I’ve ever worked for as you will be treated with respect and you have unlimited potential at this company.
