The first 2 years are working in a classroom learning the information needed for the apprenticeship and gaining a Btec before going to site for year 3. The work is not too difficult and the apprenticeship is very enjoyable. The college is very supportive and helpful. I really enjoy the classroom work.
I have learnt many new skills in the workshop. On opportunities out to a wind farm there is a lot to learn and ask about. There is never any day out on site where there is not a new thing to learn. On site is the largest learning opportunity during the apprenticeship.
I enjoy the apprenticeship. The college work is easy and there is a lot of free time. Out on site there is so many opportunities to learn. The work on site is very enjoyable. The team you work with is amazing and will always answer questions. no matter how silly you think.
The structure is very good. Any meetings are made in advance and any support is always provided by managers. Being an apprentice means there is always help if and when it is needed. The timetable is easy to follow and clear so everyone knows where they need to be and when.
EDF are very supportive. Any problems can be resolved very quickly. The management are very quick to help when needed. If any help with work is needed they will always be there if you need it and will do as much as possible to help you. They have such a positive attitude.
The college always support each person where needed. The are always on hand to help if you need it. Any supportive materials they will get to you as soon as possible. Any personalised support is always at hand. The college always help each student weather it be simple or complex.
The qualification teaches all the basics needed for the job. Each subject is relevant and will teach the basics so when you get to site knowledge can be expanded and applied. The qualification will also help in everyday life and help gain a permanent job at the end of the apprenticeship
EDF do not supply extra curricular activities but the college do. Anyone can sign up. Also at the halls EDF sent me to stay in has a gym and more activities. Nearby there is other places to join sports teams. EDF have some social events you can join if you wish to but because of the pandemic they are online at the moment.
Yes
I have never felt singled out or isolated. EDF are supportive of any decisions and are there to support through problems. The managers are very easy to talk to and can be a friend or manager when needed. They always want you to be happy and will help you through everything.
The application process is so easy to navigate through. EDF have supported me through any problems. It is an amazing opportunity and I would take it a second time if I could. Due to the pandemic things have had to change at late notice. 100% would recommend the apprenticeship to anyone who asked.
