My role involves designing electrical cable ways within a submarine using a cadds system along with other engineering disciplines.
I learnt more communication skills and confidence speaking to others and learnt the basics to my trade, and basic electrical knowledge.
I thoroughly enjoy the programme and you experience different working environments and you speak and get advice from other people who have been through the apprenticeship and there is range of different work to do and learn.
Our programme is very well organised with set dates and deadlines for required work and assessments and different placements are considered what you want to experience.
A lot of support is provided from my employer for a range of different things and they put a lot of effort into making sure you're happy and if you require anymore support.
A lot of support and training is provided from my employer to fulfill my qualifications and any questions and answered of chased if they are unsure and are very honest.
The qualification helps me perform better in my job in some aspects.
We had the opportunity to be apart of the cycle to work scheme and apprentice council if we wanted to and had the opportunity to work with schools and young people in the STEM scheme quite regularly.
