In the first year you will complete a BTEC level 3 diploma in engineering, with the option to progress onto a higher national certificate in electrical & electronic engineering in years 2-3. Throughout the apprenticeship you will be provided with a multitude of training courses which are relevant to the work you carry out. This includes training for software you will use as well as processes which are followed in the business. After completion of your apprenticeship you will have the option to do a university degree in engineering.
Throughout your apprenticeship you will move to a range of teams to get a better understanding of the designing side of the business. Each team is filled with wonderful and helpful people who have mountains of knowledge and experience to share with you. You will feel welcomed wherever you go. The apprenticeship has been very enjoyable
The structure of the apprenticeship is very well organised. you begin with a week long induction which provides a lot of information and answers to questions before you start. it also give you a chance to meet and talk to other apprentices going through the same scenario. There are also apprentices which have been through the courses and are excellent as they have experienced what you have and are great at supporting you through the qualifications.
The information you learn at college helps in providing the background information required to do your work. the information at college provides the general information whilst at work you will go more specific into a specialist area. What your lean in college is very beneficial if you want to progress onto the university degree to become a full engineer rather than a designer.
There are always extra curricular activities. There are activities which are to help the local community such as beach cleans and also to help the wider community. There are always opportunities to help the newer apprentices who are coming into the business as well as opportunities to show how well your performance is through competitions whether that being business specific or national.
