  • Electrical design apprentice- understand the working of power systems and how to implement them into 2d models Day release at Furness College where I study an Electrical Engineering HNC.

  • I have learnt how to operate different CAD systems, along side a whole new range of subjects studied at HNC.

  • I am enjoying my apprenticeship however training was poorly planned when starting in the business

  • The programme is well organized however COVID has slowed down/ changed the structure of our different placements.

  • If I have a concern I feel comfortable raising this with my employer, to seek the right advice/action

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Support for college qualification was minimal, after seeking for help and no response. Support for qualification within business has not been needed yet due to it not have started yet, but I would openly ask for help if it was needed.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualification allows me to fully understand the background and reason behind the work that I am doing, putting it into real life perspective

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I believe that some people are at a disadvantage to experience these events as it is the apprentice council who participate , of which only a selected few are included.

  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • BAE provides high quality training for people of any age, whilst paying them to gain this qualification and experience


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to BAE Systems?
  • Ensure that you are certain that it is the qualification that you want to study, as you will be based in that department for many years.
