Digital Degree Apprentice Review

On a day-to-day basis I am either in audit or data analytics. I can be processing data and creating insights for clients, or in audit I could be assisting audit teams while helping them use technology to improve their service to clients. I often interact with clients personally, as well as in team calls. I work independently and collaboratively, but there is always support.

I have been able to increase my professionalism and business skills during the day to day job. I have also been able to expand my knowledge through my degree. There are lots of internal training opportunities that have also allowed me to expand on my knowledge and understanding of a range of topics, of my choice. I have been able to experience Alteryx, and study cyber security, which has been unrelated to my qualification.

The work itself is both challenging and rewarding, I can spend time solving problems and creating solutions, and it always feels good to be recognised for my contributions. The team is always friendly, no matter who I am working with, and understanding of my experience and knowledge. The culture is very friendly, and everyone has been welcoming and made efforts to keep in touch during the pandemic. The programme has exceeded my expectations, and I enjoy it greatly.

There was a clear induction to my work which made me feel taken care of, it was well structured and covered lots that I needed to know. The training offered helps me to do my job, and anything I might need additionally is also available to me. There is constant support from your seniors, as well as your peers, and there is always someone available to help. The study time is well organised, and I always have enough time off to complete my studies. You get given a buddy when you join, for informal support, and a counsellor to guide you with your career. There is always a clear team hierarchy which makes it much easier to know who to contact when you need help. Overall, the whole thing is very organised, and EY takes any steps to ensure it runs smoothly.

The manager on whatever you are working on will always make sure you are okay with your work, and help the team to support you through coaching. The HR team would always be available should you need it to support you on any issue, as well as your buddy/counsellor. Help is always readily available, and everyone is supportive no matter the issue.

You have a skills coach from the training provider, and they can support you with any of your work, or guide you towards help if it is more specialised. There is a team available for you to book slots with to support you with any academic queries, and there are plenty of slots available. They are always happy to help, and only an email away should you need it. This makes me feel really supported when completing my studies.

My learning supports my day-to-day role by providing a foundation of knowledge about technology and the business I work in. I have been able to apply the knowledge I have gained around the business I work in, on all work I have completed. I have gained a much greater understanding of the work I complete.

There are many company events, and most holidays are celebrated with an event. There are quizzes and teams often hold their own sessions to relax while working together. There are sports clubs to join, for all abilities and you can study towards EY badges in topics that interest you. There are end of audit events too, meals and nights out.

Working at EY has been seamless, and the environment is amazing. Everyone is so friendly, and the socials are great fun. The work you complete is challenging but also exciting opportunities! The training is exceptional, and my qualification is well organised and the topics are really interesting. It's the best start to your career.

I would say to focus on why you want to work for EY specifically, align yourself with their values and find ways you have shown your passions and interests. Wanting to work in a collaborative way is important too. Be confident and be yourself, they appreciate hiring a range of people and so it's more important to be you than to be what you think they want.
