My role is an mechanical aircraft technician. I am part of a team that carries out in depth servicing’s of aircraft after a certain amount of flying hours. The aircraft come in and we strip it examine it and rebuild it.
Yes I have learnt a lot of skills since my apprenticeship and developed a lot as well especially teamwork, communication and hand skills.
I enjoyed my program a lot and would recommend it to anyone looking for an engineering apprenticeship.
My programme was very well structured and organised with a day release to college to complete my BTEC and NVQ course and the rest of the week on site.
I receive a lot of support from everyone at Babcock from the training team to my colleagues in my work department and all management.
We received a lot of support from our training provided when working towards our qualification and the knowledge and experience they provided was really useful in passing our BTEC and NVQ level 3 courses.
It helps me perform a lot better because it gave me a general understanding about all aircraft and systems in more depth and I use that knowledge in my day to day role in work.
Yes there are a lot of extra-curricular activities to get involved in at work especially sports activities.
Yes
Because it was a wonderful apprenticeship course to be a part of as I gained a lot of experience from being on site 4 days a week learning all the time and enjoyed it every day as well as achieving a level 3 in BTEC and NVQ
Make sure that you have a good and organised CV ready and ask loads of questions all the time as it is really important to gain an understand and show an eagerness and willing to learn as no question is a stupid question.
